When we sign up for loyalty programs, register on websites, or apply for bank cards, we often give out our personal details — and soon our iPhones are flooded with spam texts. Promo offers, sales alerts, discounts, and loan approvals can take over your inbox in no time.
Stopping them usually means calling the sender, clicking a link, or filling out a form — all of which takes time and can be risky. But there’s an easier way. On your iOS device, NumBuster lets you filter SMS by phone number or keyword — so spam never even reaches you.
Blocking SMS by phone number
To block spam texts from a specific phone number, open the NumBuster app on your iOS device and go to the “SMS Blocking” section in the bottom menu.

Tap “Stop-Numbers” and then “Add.” Enter the phone number you want to block.

It’s a good option for blocking specific senders — but many companies use number ranges or display names instead of real phone numbers.
Blocking SMS by keyword
You can also block texts by keyword. For example, if you’re tired of credit offers, just add “credit” to your blocked list, and any message that includes it will be filtered out. To do this, go to the “SMS Blocking” section in the bottom menu.

Tap “Stop-Words” and then “Add.” Enter the word you want to block.

To remove a phone number or keyword later, just swipe it left. You’re in full control — add or remove filters anytime you like. That way, only the messages you want make it through.
